The House Wiki's IRC channel is #house on ShoutWiki's IRC server (irc.shoutwiki.com).

In addition to general discussion, the channel can be used to contact the administrators of The House Wiki quickly.

How to join the channel[edit source]

For experienced users:

irc.shoutwiki.com
#house

irc://irc.shoutwiki.com/house

For others:
You can either use ShoutWiki's IRC gateway or install an IRC client on your computer. An IRC client is a software that can be used to connect to various IRC servers.

IRC client[edit source]

Not all IRC clients are equal. You'll most likely want a client that supports UTF-8 character encoding. Some good choices for IRC clients include the following:

  • XChat — official Windows build is shareware, but unofficial builds are free.
  • ChatZilla — not a separate IRC client per se, but rather a plugin to the popular Mozilla Firefox browser.
  • Opera — Opera has a built-in IRC client.

Registering a nickname[edit source]

Registering a nickname happens by typing the following command and then pressing the Enter button on your keyboard: /msg NickServ register <your password here> <your e-mail address here>. For example: /msg NickServ register myPassword me@example.com

Do note that IRC nicknames cannot contain spaces or other special characters, such as Greek or Cyrillic letters.
